Just wanted to give a special shout out to SPRO for their awesome tackle they shared with us at Kayak Fishing Oregon. It's such a huge honor having such big sponsors like SPRO involved in the kayak fishing community. There is a reason why our sport continues to be the fastest growing segment of fishing worldwide year after year. Please check out their tackle online and order at a fishing and tackle shop near you.
Check out the nice Coho Marty Carlson from Gerber Legendary Blades hooks into near Shipwreck in Astoria, Oregon. That smile says it all!
I love how smooth and silent these Hobie pedal drive kayaks can be. I caught both of these Coho trolling plug cut Herring with Dicks Sure Spin Helmets in about 8 feet of water.
One of my favorite times of year to fish in the Pacific Northwest is late summer and early fall. The salmon fishing this time of year for both Chinook and Coho is amazing and Astoria is one of my favorite places to be. Here's a 28 pound Chinook or King Salmon I caught trolling a cut plug herring near "Shipwreck" in August.
Kayak Fishing Oregon just finished another Hobie First Cast with Next Adventure last Saturday near their Scappoose, Oregon location. One of our clients Darrel ended up catching his first ever Chinook Salmon during our salmon class. I think his smile says it all! For more info contact me here at KFO or at Next Adventure by clicking the link below.
Kayak Fishing Oregon just finished shooting a kayak fishing episode for Cody Herman's TV show "Day One Outdoors"as well as a recreational video for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Thankfully the fish were biting. Episode airs June 7 on Comcast Sportsnet
The Spring Chinook fishing is starting to heat up near Portland. I landed this 12# Chinook trolling a prawn spinner through an underwater boulder field and found this salmon waiting. These Hobie kayaks are so quite I caught this salmon in 8 feet of water. If you're interested in hooking into the Northwest's most prized fish, please contact me here and set up a trip.
A huge thanks to Daiwa and Mark Landry of Maschmedt and Associates for your sponsorship with KFO and our upcoming Hobie First Cast kayak fishing classes with Next Adventure. We just received 12 Daiwa Coastal Aird reels and Daiwa Accudepth rods for salmon kayak fishing classes. For more info message me here at KFO or contact Next Adventure for dates.
